Help & FAQ

Dates and holidays

Why is a festival date different from my local calendar?

Hindu festivals follow the tithi at sunrise, which can fall on different civil dates in different cities. Islamic festivals depend on moon sighting. Check the Panchang page with your city selected.

Which countries have full holiday data?

India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. Other countries on the Countries page show live time only.

Are state holidays included?

Not yet. National holidays and major festivals are listed. State and provincial holidays will be added later.

How are long weekends found?

A public holiday on a Friday or Monday gives three days. A holiday on a Thursday or Tuesday gives four days if you take the day in between off.

Panchang

How accurate are the Panchang timings?

They are calculated with the Sun and Moon algorithms from Jean Meeus and the Lahiri ayanamsa, for sunrise in your selected city. They are usually within 1 to 2 minutes of published panchangs.

What is Amanta and Purnimanta?

In the Amanta system a lunar month ends on the new moon. In the Purnimanta system, used in most of north India, it ends on the full moon. The page shows both month names.

Can I change the city?

Yes. Choose the city on the Panchang page or set a default in Settings.

Features and data

Where are my countdowns and world clock cities saved?

In your browser's local storage. They are not synced between devices. Clearing browser data or using Reset in Settings removes them.

How do I switch to 24-hour time?

Open Settings and change Time format.

Does the site work offline?

The calculators and Panchang work once the page has loaded. Flags and fonts need an internet connection.
